Snow
Feb 13, 2010
We don’t normally get much snow here in GA but mother nature decided to throw us a curveball yesterday. We got a little over 3 inches and boy is it pretty.

Here kitty-kitty… sniff sniff…err, nevermind.

While Rob was checking to see if Smokey had come to visit he noticed a new visitor to the buffet… a wee little skunk. An Eastern Spotted Skunk to be exact. I snagged some pictures being very careful not to spook it into stinking up the porch. Clearly the entire animal kingdom has been informed of our crunchy bowl handouts.
No soup for you!!

In an effort to feed Smokey the stray we were leaving a bowl full of crunchies on the porch all night. Well, after a few nights of that the word apparently got out and every raccoon in our neighborhood got the memo. I left the motion capture going on the webcam one night and woke up to the scene below the next morning. Needless to say we now bring the bowl in at night.
I’m not sure what we’ll do in the spring when the bears come around…
Tonka Truck
Jan 24, 2010
Woo hoo! After 7 years we finally broke down and got a new ride – a Toyota FJ Cruiser. See, two weeks ago we got a couple of inches of snow here in the mountains and our poor little 2WD truck couldn’t make it through our hilly neighborhood. It spent a week sitting a mile away at the entrance while we waited on snow and ice to melt. We had to rely on our neighbors 4WD Hummer or our UTV to get to it. One morning we actually walked a mile in freezing 20° yuckiness while dragging our laptops to get to the damn thing. (Up hill – both ways!) I think it’s safe to say we won’t have that problem anymore
Kinda looks like a Tonka Truck, doesn’t it? Ya know, the big metal ones from back in the 70’s?

I think it’s time to go find us some mud!
